It was a proud evening for Don Bosco High School, Panjim, as the school choir, Melodia Do Sol, claimed First Place in the Group Category at the 27th edition of the Vem Cantar Portuguese Song Contest 2025, held on Sunday, 28th September at the Kala Academy, Panjim.
Organised by Fundação Oriente in collaboration with the Heritage Cell of Rosary College, Navelim, the annual competition celebrates the richness of Portuguese music and culture in Goa. This year, the young voices of Don Bosco stood out, blending harmony, rhythm, and stage presence to leave both the audience and judges spellbound.
The winning team featured Enoch Britto, John Dias, Reuben Nair, Vikaran Dsouza, Castiel Vaz, Elijah Britto, Jonathan Dias, and Boaz Binu. At the helm was their spirited leader Sangfroid Mendes, who guided the group with remarkable energy and commitment. Supporting him was Sir Mario Monteiro, whose encouragement and presence gave the boys the confidence to shine.
Behind the scenes, much of the credit also goes to their dedicated trainers - Sir Asher Fernandes and Sir Ashford D’Sa who spent weeks fine-tuning every note, gesture, and detail of the performance.
For our institution, the victory at Vem Cantar marks a milestone worth celebrating. It reflects not only the musical talent of its students but also the discipline, teamwork, and guidance that shaped their journey to the top, while inspiring the next generation to keep this cultural legacy alive
